Lipstick Woman

"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and...I believe in miracles."
-Audrey Hepburn.
As I wore my MAC Russian Red lipstick the other day, I felt like Wonder Woman. No wonder Mac is offering a MAC Wonder Woman Collection for Spring 2011.

If you are one of those women who can't leave home without lipstick on, have you ever wondered, why?

Ancient Mesopotamian women invented and wore lipstick. They crushed semi-precious jewels and slathered it on their lips. Ancient Egyptians brought themselves some serious illness from wearing extracted purplish-red dye. Cleopatra's was made from crushed carmine beetles and ants. Pearlescent shimmering lip glosses were made out of fish scales.

During the Islamic Golden Agesolid perfumed lipsticks were sticks rolled and pressed in special molds.  In Medieval Europe, lipsticks were banned by the church. They were thought to be used as an 'incarnation of Satan, cosmetics being 'reserved' only for prostitutes.
Even up until the mid-40's, lipstick and rouge were for teen girls who acted very provocatively with men.

Personally, I can not deny the allure of lipstick. Maybe it's because we are not able to change men as much as we want to, so we settle for wearing and changing lipstick instead?

So, ladies, let me shed some light on this matter --or maybe not-- by quoting a very wise man named Jerry Seinfield. He says, "Where lipstick is concerned, the important thing is not color, but to accept God's final word on where your lips end. "

Note: I recently made a happy discovery of a reputable local online seller of MAC Cosmetic goodies, including it's newest collection Bloggers' Obsession, Fashion Flower, Surf Baby, and more. (Check her out: (http://www.facebook.com/pages/MAC-Cosmetics-For-Less/207058992654007))
