Delirium

 - by Natascha

Where all of my emotions have so much neck room and so much space…
Pieced together from the cutting room floor:
It’s nighttime and the clouds are rolling fast across the sky.
I had spent six days at the bottom of the deep ocean.
Everything felt cold and moved fluidly in slow motion.
All the while my vision never quite registers.
My neighbor and I met up the other night and had a few drinks outside in his garden.
I haven’t seen him in awhile, but we have known each other since kindergarten.
He told me this story about how he is never able to finish any of his stories;
He said, ” It started when I was Grade 3.
One day, while I was taking a crap, a thought came into my head, and it grew into an obsession—“
He wasn’t able to tell me what that thought was because we were interrupted by a fluttering hummingbird, which we initially thought was a giant moth, and it was drinking nectar from a flower nearby.
