Exercise Boosts Your Energy

If you are like me, you always find excuses not to work out in the morning (even though you know exercising produces loads of benefits for your physical health).  Less than 10% of Filipinos engage in exercise, and most struggle going past the “trial phase” of their gym. However, some gym time is exactly what you need especially as you grow older.

More Than The Physical

Studies say that regular exercise relieves stress, improves memory, enhances your sleep quality, and makes you feel great overall no matter what age or fitness level you are. It improves both your health and disposition.

How does one get motivated to exercise? It’s funny how many find it difficult to stick to an exercise program. Generally, many begin to work out because of the added energy it brings. Plenty cite the lack of energy as an excuse when in truth, you lose more of it the less you exercise.

Starting An Exercise Program

Beginning an exercise program is easier said than done, especially when you’re new to it or have stopped for a long time. Start small. Allot five minutes and slowly build up to 30 minutes five times a week. What you need to do is commit to a regular physical activity. Eventually, you’ll get used to it, and will be exercising longer and feeling great with more energy. You might even explore new ways of exercising. You’ll know you’re doing enough exercise when you begin to breath heavier during your workout, but not to the point of being out of breath.

Find a workout you enjoy. Invite your friends or family to join you. There are also plenty of different ways you can exercise—other than at the gym. Walk your dog. Do more house chores, including cleaning or gardening. Walk or bike to work and use the stairs instead of the elevator.

Exercise is not only for those who want to be more physically attractive. It’s an important tool for boosting not only our looks, but energy and mental health as well.
