What Has Shaped The Modern Pinay?

The history of the Philippine Archipelago includes the 400-year colonization of Spain. The Philippines was greatly influenced by them. The traditional Filipina, having taken upon many Spanish characteristics as well,  has resulted to creation of an exotic, unique, and distinctive beauty.

In our national language, which is very rich in Spanish words, a male is called a "Filipino" and a female is called a "Filipina". A slang term for "Filipina" is "Pinay". In the central and southern part of Luzon, handsome males are called "guapo" and beautiful females
are called "guapa."

Besides our strong Spanish influences, the Philippine culture is also a blend of Malay and Chinese. Now what has all these influences resulted to: The Filipina -- a most beautiful result of these infusions.
