To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before – Jenny Han

When it comes to books, some people just want to read a book that doesn’t require them to think that much. Well, I was in that specific mood when I read “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” By Jenny Han. I go to school and have a heavy load of readings everyday and I still wanted something to read other than handouts so I turned to this book. It isn’t a total no-brainer but it’s definitely easy on the eyes and you process the story quickly which was a definite bonus to the fact that there was a great story waiting for me within the pages.

Jenny Han’s book somewhat revolves around a teenage girl, Lara Jean, who is not open but quite secretive about her love life. Her way of handling her feelings was writing down letters to all the boys she has found an interest in thus, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Until one day, she finds out that her love letters have found themselves in the hands of all the boys she has written them for including her sister’s ex boyfriend, Josh. All those letters throw her into chaos and mishap as a lot of misunderstanding and surprising turn of events. She finds herself in many sticky situations that she had to get out of or around but leads her to more unfamiliar situations. She surprisingly ends up with someone but soon enough, her life whirls her around just one more time.

I could go on and tell you the entire plot of the book but it just wouldn’t give the whole novel justice. Jenny Han has worded this book in such a way that it’s cute and awkward but the kind of awkward you’d like. Comfortable awkward if there is such a thing. It was such a page turner for me because I just couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. It definitely made me feel the butterflies in my stomach and I could feel my face getting numb from all the smiling I did while reading.

I’d have to admit that this isn’t some William Shakespeare or anything but it was a good read and I’m sure that I found myself putting off my handouts for class for this book. I just couldn’t wait to see what would happen next to Lara Jean and her Love life. The sequel to this book is coming out this May 26 in the Philippines and its entitled “P.S I still love you.” I definitely can’t wait to see what Jenny has in store for her readers.
